毎年５月に行われているアジアと太平洋諸島のカトリック信者の集まりである Asians for Mary Pilgrimage ですが、今年は１０周年を迎えることになりました。

2008年5月 United in Diversity through Mary
例年の通り、聖母月であり、またAsian Pacific American Heritage Monthである５月に、メトロポリタン・ワシントンDCエリアのアジア系のカトリックによるイベント、Asians for Mary （今年のタイトルは"United in Diversity through Mary"）が予定されています。
まだ企画の詳細については会議で相談が行われている段階ですが、
場所と時間は決まっておりますので
是非ご予定をあけて、ご参加くださいますよう、お願いいたします。

2002年以来、毎年続けられているイベントです。多くのアジア系の方たちがエスニックドレスによる参加をされ、またそれぞれのお国柄の表れるマリア様への信仰が垣間みられるイベントで、とても華やかです。喜びと一致のうちにロザリオの祈りとミサを捧げます。着物などの自身のエスニックドレスを着ての参加はとりわけ歓迎されますが、もちろん平服でも構いません。ワシントンはじめ東海岸在住の多くのアジア系カトリックの皆さんとお会いできる機会を楽しみにお待ちください。
It has become a part of our tradition of the Catholic in Metropolitan Washington, DC. "United in Diversity through Mary (formerly: Asians for Mary)" is scheduled on Saturday, May 3, 2008 starting at 1:00 pm at Basilica of the National Shrine of Immaculate Conception. Please come and join to celebrate both Virgin Mary, our mother, and the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. It is a uniquely ethnic event to find a lot of joy, faith and fun.

２）午後１時〜午後１時15分：Procession of "Lady"
14の参加コミュニティによるProcession。
各グループがそれぞれのエスニックコミュニティの
バナー（旗）＝１名・フラワーアーチ＝２名・イメージ（ご像）
またはアイコン（ご絵）＝１名を祭壇まで運びます。
（計４名にお願いします）
無論、強制ではありませんが、エスニックドレスによる参加が
望ましいとされています。

4月18日（金）の次回のミーティングまでに、おおよその出席人数を把握したいとのことです。
是非ご参加の意向をお知らせください。

Japan & Jesuits: Film Tonight!
The information arrived from "Kevin-sensei" of Georgetown University--everybody is of course welcome:
There will be film tonight on Fr. Pedro Arrupe, S.J. who was Superior General of the Jesuits and a long time missionary in Japan.
He was living in Hiroshima when the atomic bomb fell in 1945. As a trained doctor he headed the first rescue party to arrive in Hiroshima after the atomic bomb. This is a wonderful event that shows the intimate connection between the Society of Jesus (and hence, Georgetown University) and Japan. (by the way, the recently elected Superior General of the Jesuits, Fr. Adolfo Nicolás, S.J. also comes from Japan where he has lived for many years and speaks Japanese)
This film will be showing at the Jesuit Residence today, Tuesday, Jan 29, at 7:30pm. Refreshments will be served.
